What an event! Certainly the most inspiring one so far.
No ALFA is NOT a religious derivation but the acronym for
Association of Literature and Film friends in the Algarve – a charity for cultural stimulation and development.

With almost 40 participants, the presentation of two very different books was delightful and entertaining:

Derek Edwards began with Pudding on Fridays – NOT another cookery book, but his autobiography with amazing insides in the bewildering world of finance, the stock exchange and the city.

Followed by Lisa Selvidge, the initiator of the enchanting collection Summer Times in the Algarve. Five of the17 authors presented charming and very different stories, all reflecting the many shades and colours of the Algarve.

Janice Russell read her daughter’s story Rain dance

Penny Howson won the audience with On that Hot Afternoon

Jenny Grainer read her own story A time and a Place and fascinated the audience with
Fiona Filedhouse’s The Shadows of Sunshine.

Like a crescendo did Stephen Hamilton-Berger succeed in the ALFA-effect: His story
The Rolling Stone spellbound the audience and proofed the difference between just reading a book and developing a memorable impression by meeting the author(s).
Many satisfied listeners vowed to make the first Monday of the month their ALFA-regular.
Sincere apologies from Barbara Fellgiebel for the poor quality of the images – any volunteer to take over this part of the show is more than welcome.
